Unsignalized Intersection Study

The Bannock Transportation Planning Organization (BTPO) is conducting a study to determine the current and future operating conditions of key un-signalized intersections within the City of Chubbuck, the City of Pocatello, and Bannock County.
The Unsignalized intersection study will analyze the cumulative impact of the region’s growth patterns on each of the 31 study intersections over the next twenty-five years. The study will also determine which intersections do not meet service standards in 2045.
The study will provide local governments information they need to plan for improvements or identify alternatives to reduce the impact of growth on the study intersections.
Study Methodology

The study methodology was designed to determine if the increased traffic related to residential and commercial development between 2021 and 2045 would require a change in the traffic control or intersection design.
The study was conducted at a planning level. No specific design change recommendations are made.
Study Results and Recommendations
The unsignalized intersection study included seven different analyses on each of the 31 study intersections. To assist the public and agencies in reviewing the sturdy draft results and recommendations, BTPO developed a story map. A story map includes text, graphics, and interactive maps that allow the data to be explored.
